Why this size and not the next one up/down

4-cam 8 MP vs 4-cam 6 MP dome: 6 MP saves about $175 if you don't need 4K detail or zoom headroom. 4-cam vs 6-cam: the 6-cam 8 MP kit adds two more domes but steps up to the 8-channel NVR — about $461 all up. 8 MP dome vs 8 MP turret: roughly $100 more for the IK10 vandal rating and tamper-resistant housing.

Why the +UPS variant and not the standard kit

The 600 VA UPS adds $84.99 to the system. It's sized to keep the system recording through a typical distribution outage. Worth it if (a) you've actually had power cuts at this site, (b) the property is in a brownout-prone area, or (c) the cost of losing footage during a power event is high (insurance claims, after-hours intrusion).

Dome vs bullet vs turret — which form for which job

A dome is the form you reach for when the camera is reachable or needs to be discreet: the IK10 housing shrugs off a knock or a deliberate strike, the tinted cover hides which way the lens points, and the low profile suits retail and office interiors. A bullet projects further and announces itself — better for long perimeters and driveways. A turret splits the difference for general doorway coverage. Most sites mix forms; these kits are the vandal-resistant, discreet half of that.
