HiLook Wired Alarms

HiLook is Hikvision's value-tier brand for installers and homeowners who want reliable wired alarm hardware at a budget-friendly price. The HA-ALARM range is wired-only — control panel, hard-wired detectors over a 12 V DC bus, wired keypads and wired siren outputs. It's purpose-built for new builds and renovations where cable runs are part of the rough-in, delivering wired-grade reliability without the price step-up of the main Hikvision AX PRO range.

Security Cameras Australia is an authorised HiLook supplier. Every device is genuine Australian stock with full 3-year manufacturer warranty, and you get pre-sale technical advice from people who configure both the wired and wireless ranges — so if HiLook is the right answer, that's what we'll say. If you need AX PRO wireless or Ajax instead, we'll say that too.

Note on installation and compliance: HiLook wired alarms can be installed DIY for self-monitored use during a build or renovation. Paid commercial installation, or connection to a professional Alarm Receiving Centre, typically requires a security licence (Class 2 or equivalent in NSW, VIC, QLD and similar states) — we can refer a licensed installer if your project needs one. HiLook is Hikvision-family and not NDAA-compliant per Public Law 115-232 §889; for Australian government or critical-infrastructure projects that require it, see our NDAA-compliant range and consider Ajax for the alarm side.

Key features of the HiLook wired range

  • Wired control panel — up to 8 hard-wired zones, expandable with zone-expansion modules.
  • 12 V DC bus — powers sensors and sirens from the panel; no extra power supply needed for small installs.
  • Pet-immune PIRs — HA-ALARM-PIR1 rated to 10 kg; HA-ALARM-PIR2 dual-tech (PIR plus microwave) rated to 30 kg.
  • Tag-based arming — included RFID fobs for fast user identification.
  • Wired siren outputs for indoor and outdoor warning devices.
  • Hik-Connect compatibility for basic app-based arming and push notifications.
  • Arm-on-event triggers from connected Hikvision or HiLook cameras and NVRs — unified Hikvision/HiLook ecosystem.
  • 3-year manufacturer warranty across the HiLook alarm range.

What goes in a HiLook wired system

  • Control panel (HA-ALARM-PANEL) — the brain. Hardwired to every detector via the 12 V DC bus.
  • Detectors — PIRs (PIR1 for general rooms, PIR2 dual-tech where there are pets over 10 kg), magnetic contacts on doors and windows.
  • Keypad (HA-ALARM-KP) for local arm/disarm and PIN management.
  • RFID tags for fast user identification at the keypad.
  • Wired sirens — indoor and outdoor warning devices.
  • Optional Hik-Connect for basic remote arm and notifications.

When HiLook wired makes sense — and when it doesn't

HiLook wired is the right call when:

  • The property is a new build or renovation and cable runs are part of the rough-in.
  • The budget is tighter than AX PRO wireless or Ajax.
  • You don't need advanced features — no high zone count, no partitioning, no MotionCam video verification.
  • You want the lowest-fuss wired install: no battery management, no radio interference to think about.

Step up to Hikvision AX PRO wireless when: the property is already finished (no cable runs available), or you need higher zone counts, partitioning, 4G cellular backup, or deeper Hik-Connect integration.

Step across to Ajax when: you want a system fully decoupled from the Hikvision ecosystem, you need Fibra wired plus Jeweller wireless on the same hub, or NDAA compliance matters.

Self-monitored or professionally monitored

Self-monitored — Hik-Connect pushes alerts to your phone when the alarm triggers. No subscription. Fine for residential.

Professionally monitored (ARC) — the panel reports to an Australian 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre for monitored response. Needed for insurance discounts on most commercial premises, and the right call for sites with high-value contents. Monthly ARC subscription. We can refer Australian ARCs that handle HiLook panels.

Which HiLook setup is right for your site

  • Starter (small home or apartment) — HA-ALARM-KIT1: panel, keypad, 2× PIRs, 3× RFID tags. Covers the basics as-is.
  • Standard residential — KIT1 plus magnetic contacts on every entry door and window, an outdoor strobe siren, and PIR2 dual-tech in any room a larger pet has access to.
  • Small commercial — KIT1 plus zone expansion module, commercial-grade PIRs throughout, indoor siren plus outdoor strobe. Talk to us about sizing.

Build a HiLook wired alarm kit from the HA-ALARM range, or talk to us about your install. If you're rough-in on a new build, we'll help you scope cable runs and devices to suit the layout. If the property's already finished, we'll point you to AX PRO wireless or Ajax instead — wired isn't the right answer for a retrofit.

Frequently Asked Questions about HiLook Wired Alarms

What's in the HiLook HA-ALARM-KIT1 starter kit?

A complete starter pack: 1× control panel, 1× keypad, 2× PIR detectors, 3× RFID arming tags. It covers a small home or apartment as-is, and you can add door contacts, additional PIRs, sirens, or zone-expansion modules as the property scales.

Wired or wireless — which alarm should I pick?

Wired (HiLook) is the right call for new builds and renovations where cable can be run during construction, the budget is tighter, and you don't need advanced features. Cheaper hardware, no batteries to manage, immune to radio interference. Wireless (Hikvision AX PRO or Ajax) is the right call for retrofits and finished properties where cable runs aren't practical, or when you need higher zone counts, partitioning, 4G cellular backup, MotionCam video verification, or Fibra-plus-Jeweller hybrid.

Are HiLook PIRs pet-immune?

Yes. HA-ALARM-PIR1 is rated for pets up to 10 kg; HA-ALARM-PIR2 is dual-tech (PIR plus microwave) and rated to 30 kg. For homes with larger pets, specify PIR2 in any room the pet has access to.

Can HiLook alarms connect to my Hikvision cameras or NVR?

Yes. HiLook alarms integrate with Hik-Connect and support arm-on-event triggers from connected Hikvision and HiLook cameras and NVRs — so a camera-detected motion can trigger the alarm, and an alarm event can trigger camera recording. Useful for a unified Hikvision/HiLook ecosystem.

Should I install this myself, or use a licensed installer?

Self-install during a build or renovation is the typical use case — you run cable to every doorway and ceiling-mounted PIR position during the rough-in, then terminate to the panel later. Paid commercial installation, or connection to a professional Alarm Receiving Centre, typically requires a security licence (Class 2 or equivalent in NSW, VIC, QLD and similar states) — Australian regulatory requirement. We can refer a licensed installer.
