Axis 2N Intercoms

2N is Axis's intercom subsidiary — a Czech specialist brand for IP intercoms and door entry, focused on commercial, multi-tenant residential, and premium residential installs. The 2N range covers door stations (the outdoor unit at the entry: IP Verso for modular configuration, IP Style for premium minimalist design, IP Force for vandalism-resistant exposed entries, and other variants), answer units (the indoor monitor: 2N Indoor Compact, Indoor Touch, Indoor View), and management software (2N Access Commander for multi-tenant directory and access management). The architecture is fully IP — Cat6 PoE to each device, integration with the broader Axis network camera, audio and access control ecosystem, and ONVIF compliance for VMS integration. NDAA §889 compliant, the right choice for procurement contexts restricting Chinese hardware.

Security Cameras Australia is an authorised Axis 2N dealer. Every 2N device is genuine Australian stock with full manufacturer warranty.

What's in the 2N range

IP Verso (modular door station)

The flagship 2N door station — modular design lets you configure the front face per install (call button only, PIN keypad, RFID reader, fingerprint reader, display module, multi-button directory). Build the right credential combination per door. Vandalism-resistant build, IP54 weatherproofing, multi-format mounting. Suits commercial and multi-tenant installs needing credential flexibility.

IP Style (premium minimalist)

Premium minimalist design door station for high-end residential and customer-facing commercial. Touchscreen display, customisable interface, full IP entry feature set. The aesthetic option where the door station is visible in a designed space.

IP Force (vandalism-resistant exposed)

Heavy-duty vandalism-resistant door station for exposed entries — high-density commercial, sports facilities, transit and infrastructure entries. IK10 vandalism rating, IP69K wash-down rating, hardened build.

IP Verso 2.0 / IP Solo / IP Base

Variants for specific install contexts — single-button, integrated keypad, or compact configurations.

Answer units (indoor monitors)

  • 2N Indoor Compact — entry-tier touchscreen indoor monitor.
  • 2N Indoor Touch — full touchscreen indoor monitor with multi-feature interface.
  • 2N Indoor View — flush-mount indoor monitor for premium residential and customer-facing commercial.
  • 2N Indoor Talk — audio-only indoor unit for installs where video answering isn't required.

Access Commander (management software)

Multi-tenant directory and access management software — centralised configuration of users, credentials, schedules, and access events across a 2N install. Essential for multi-tenant apartment buildings and larger commercial installs.

Where 2N fits in install context

Multi-tenant apartment buildings

The strongest 2N use case. Lobby door station with directory or PIN/RFID/mobile credentials, indoor monitors per apartment (often Indoor Touch or Indoor Compact), Access Commander managing the tenant directory and credentials. 2N's heritage is multi-tenant — the management workflow and feature set are tuned for that context.

Commercial multi-entry

Front-of-house IP Style or IP Verso at the customer entry, IP Force at the staff/loading entries with credential-based access, Indoor Touch at reception and security desk. Full integration with broader Axis CCTV and access control.

Premium residential

IP Style or IP Verso at the front gate or door, Indoor View or Indoor Touch inside, optional 2N mobile app for smartphone forwarding when not home.

Institutional and government

Vandalism-resistant IP Force or IP Verso at controlled entries, full credential management via Access Commander, integration with broader access control and visitor management systems. NDAA compliance suits federal and state procurement.

2N integration paths

With Axis network cameras

2N door stations integrate cleanly with the broader Axis camera ecosystem — door event triggers can fire camera recording, the door station's own camera feeds the Axis VMS, and shared management via AXIS Camera Station or Milestone/Genetec.

With third-party VMS

ONVIF compliance for VMS integration. Milestone XProtect, Genetec Security Center, AXIS Camera Station, Hanwha WAVE all consume 2N door station video and event data.

With access control

2N integrates with major access control platforms — Inner Range Integriti, Gallagher, Honeywell ProWatch, and others. Credentials presented at the 2N reader feed the access control's decision logic; the door station handles call/answer flow.

With alarm systems

Door station arm/disarm via PIN or credential, integration with commercial alarm panels for verified events.

NDAA and procurement

2N is NDAA §889 compliant — suitable for federal contracts, state government procurement, education and healthcare contexts with NDAA restrictions, and procurement processes excluding Chinese-manufactured hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions about Axis 2N Intercoms

What's the difference between 2N IP Verso, IP Style and IP Force?

Different use cases. IP Verso is the modular workhorse — configure the front face with the credential combination you need (call button, PIN, RFID, fingerprint, display, directory). IP Style is the premium minimalist design option for high-end residential and customer-facing commercial — touchscreen, designed aesthetic. IP Force is the heavy-duty vandalism-resistant option — exposed entries, sports facilities, transit infrastructure, harsh outdoor. Choose by install context: configuration flexibility (Verso), aesthetic (Style), or robustness (Force).

Can 2N integrate with our existing access control system?

Yes — 2N integrates with major access control platforms including Inner Range Integriti, Gallagher, Honeywell ProWatch, and others. The integration pattern: credentials presented at the 2N reader feed the access control's decision logic; the door station handles call/answer flow and physical door release. Specify the integration model with both 2N and access control at the same time; bolt-on after install costs more.

Does 2N work with smartphone forwarding?

Yes — the 2N Mobile Video app forwards calls to smartphones when the indoor monitor is unattended. iOS and Android. Useful for residential and small commercial installs where the property isn't always staffed. For multi-tenant installs, tenants get individual app credentials forwarding calls to their personal phones.

Is 2N suitable for an apartment building intercom retrofit?

2N is fully IP, so retrofit installs need either Cat6 cabling to each apartment or a building-wide IP riser solution. 2N doesn't natively support 2-wire retrofit over existing analog intercom risers (that's a Hikvision strength). For new builds and buildings with structured cabling already in place, 2N is excellent. For older apartment buildings preserving existing 2-wire intercom risers without re-cabling, Hikvision 2-wire IP-over-twisted-pair is the better fit. We'll help you specify the right option.

What's Access Commander and do I need it?

2N Access Commander is the management software for multi-tenant and multi-door 2N installs — centralised user directory, credential management, schedules, event logging, and reporting. For single-residential or small commercial with a few users, you don't need it — local management on the door station is enough. For multi-tenant apartment buildings, larger commercial with many users, or multi-site chains, Access Commander becomes essential for manageable administration. We'll help you decide based on scale and user count.
