HiLook Intercoms

HiLook intercoms are the value-tier equivalent of Hikvision's video intercom range — same core IP architecture, narrower product range, lower price point. Designed for residential and small-commercial installs where the Hikvision Video Intercom feature range is more than needed and the value tier is the right balance. The range covers door stations (outdoor unit with camera, microphone, speaker, call button), indoor monitors, and smartphone forwarding via the Hik-Connect mobile app — sharing the management workflow with the broader Hikvision-family ecosystem. Useful for single-residential, gated estates, small commercial entries, and budget-conscious multi-tenant installs.

Security Cameras Australia stocks the HiLook intercom range. Every device is genuine Australian stock with full manufacturer warranty.

For the Hikvision-branded intercom range see Hikvision Video Intercoms. For multi-brand intercoms see Intercom Systems. For the broader HiLook range see the HiLook parent collection.

HiLook vs Hikvision intercoms

Same core platform, different tier:

 • HiLook intercoms — value tier. Smaller range (essential door stations and indoor monitors), fewer credential options on door stations, narrower management features. Right for typical single-residential and small-commercial installs where the broader Hikvision feature range isn't needed.
 • Hikvision Video Intercoms — premium tier. Broader range (more door station variants, multi-tenant apartment-grade indoor monitors, Access Commander-equivalent management), 2-wire IP-over-twisted-pair for apartment retrofit, multi-credential commercial door stations. Right for multi-tenant residential, larger commercial, and installs needing the full feature range. See Hikvision Video Intercoms.

Where HiLook intercoms fit

 • Single residential. Front door station, indoor monitor inside, smartphone forwarding via Hik-Connect when occupants are away. Cost-effective complete system for typical residential.
 • Gated estate or property. Pole-mount door station at the gate, indoor monitor at the house, gate-release output for the gate motor.
 • Small commercial. Front entry with call-button and basic credential options, indoor monitor at reception.
 • Budget-conscious multi-tenant. Where the broader Hikvision multi-tenant feature set isn't justified by the install scale.

How HiLook intercoms work

 1. Visitor presses the call button at the door station.
 2. Door station camera captures the visitor, microphone picks up audio.
 3. Call rings the indoor monitor (or forwards to smartphone via Hik-Connect when monitor is unattended).
 4. Occupant answers — sees the visitor on the monitor or phone, talks via two-way audio.
 5. Door release — occupant triggers the door station's relay output to open the door/gate.
 6. Optional NVR integration — door station appears as a camera channel on a Hikvision-family NVR, recording every visitor caller as an event.

What to specify

 • Door station type — basic call-button only, or with PIN keypad for keyless entry.
 • Indoor monitor count — one per dwelling minimum; two for larger residential where front door is far from main living areas.
 • Door-release control — maglock, electric strike, or gate motor. Confirm voltage and contact requirements against the door station relay output.
 • Cabling — Cat6 PoE from a network switch (HiLook intercoms are fully IP, not 2-wire). For 2-wire retrofit installs preserving existing apartment intercom risers, Hikvision Video Intercoms is the right call.
 • NVR integration — confirm Hikvision-family NVR for full integration if recording is wanted.

NDAA considerations

HiLook is part of the Hikvision family and both are excluded under NDAA §889. For procurement-restricted contexts (federal, defence, some state contracts), specify Axis 2N intercoms instead. See Axis 2N Intercoms.

Frequently Asked Questions about HiLook Intercoms

Should I get HiLook or Hikvision intercom?

For single residential and small commercial where the Hikvision Video Intercom feature range is more than you need: HiLook is the value-tier choice. For multi-tenant apartment buildings, larger commercial multi-entry installs, retrofit installs preserving 2-wire intercom risers, or installs needing the full Hikvision feature set: Hikvision Video Intercoms. The core technology is shared between both — choice comes down to tier and scale fit.

Can I get visitor call forwarding to my phone with HiLook?

Yes — HiLook intercoms support Hik-Connect mobile app forwarding for both iOS and Android. Visitor calls forward to the smartphone when the indoor monitor is unattended; you see and talk to the visitor through the door station's camera and speaker, and release the door from the phone. Same Hik-Connect app as Hikvision cameras and Hikvision Video Intercoms — single app handles the broader ecosystem.

Will HiLook intercoms work in my apartment building's existing wiring?

HiLook intercoms are fully IP — they need Cat6 PoE to each device. They don't natively support 2-wire retrofit over existing analog intercom risers. For apartment buildings preserving existing 2-wire intercom wiring without re-cabling, Hikvision Video Intercoms (with its 2-wire IP-over-twisted-pair option) is the right call. For new builds or buildings with structured cabling already in place, HiLook fits cleanly.

Can the door station release a maglock or electric strike?

Yes — HiLook door stations include relay outputs rated for door-release control. Confirm voltage and current requirements of your maglock or strike against the door station's relay output. For higher-current strikes, use an intermediate relay rather than driving the lock directly from the door station output.

Is HiLook NDAA-compliant?

No — HiLook is part of the Hikvision family and both are excluded under NDAA §889. For procurement-restricted contexts requiring NDAA compliance, specify Axis 2N intercoms — full NDAA-positive status with a broader range. See Axis 2N Intercoms and NDAA-compliant cameras.
