ColorVu 3.0 — what it actually does

Traditional CCTV switches to infrared at night — sharp images, but grayscale. ColorVu 3.0 uses an f/1.0 aperture (8× the light of an f/2.8) and a more sensitive sensor to produce full colour footage in 0.0005 lux — effectively darker than moonlight. The 3.0 generation adds a white-light supplement that fires only on motion, so you get colour identification without the camera glowing all night.

BYO HDD — what to buy

Why this size and not the next one up/down

8-cam vs 6-cam: 6-cam saves around $918 but leaves no spare channels. 8-cam vs 10-cam: 10-cam jumps to the 16-channel NVR (~$1768 step up) — only worth it if you need 10+ cameras OR want headroom for expansion.

Why the +UPS variant and not the standard kit
