Dome Camera Kits

A dome camera kit pairs matched dome cameras with a PoE NVR, a pre-installed surveillance-grade hard drive, and the cabling to connect them. The dome sits flush in a low-profile housing that's hard to grab or knock out of alignment, and the tinted cover makes it difficult to tell which way the camera is pointing — which is why domes suit ceilings, eaves, entries and any position where a discreet, tamper-resistant camera matters. Many dome models carry an IK10 vandal rating.

Security Cameras Australia stocks the dome kit range across Hikvision and HiLook, in 4MP, 6MP and 8MP resolutions and with AcuSense AI filtering and ColorVu colour night vision options. Every kit is genuine Australian stock with full manufacturer warranty, and footage records locally to the NVR — you own it, with no monthly subscription.

Why a dome camera kit

  • Discreet and tamper-resistant. The low housing is hard to grab or re-aim, and the tinted cover hides the lens direction — many models are IK10 vandal-rated.
  • Compatibility is guaranteed. NVR ports match the camera count and the drive is sized for the cameras' resolution at 30-day retention.
  • Records locally, no subscription. Footage is kept on the NVR on your premises — you own it, with no monthly fee.

What's in a dome kit

  • Dome cameras matched to the kit's resolution and feature set.
  • PoE NVR with built-in ports for the cameras.
  • Surveillance-grade hard drive pre-installed on HDD-included kits, or supply your own on BYO kits.
  • Mounting hardware per camera and a quick-start guide.
  • Not included: Cat6 cable to each camera, a monitor, your internet router.

Which dome kit is right for you

Resolution. 4MP suits indoor and close coverage; 6MP is the general standard; 8MP / 4K for large rooms or where detail at distance matters. Higher resolution uses more storage, so the kit's drive is sized to match.

Feature set. AcuSense filters alerts to people and vehicles. ColorVu holds colour at night — useful at entries; less relevant for covert positions where the supplementary white light is unwanted. See the AcuSense kits and ColorVu kits.

NDAA note. Hikvision and HiLook are not NDAA-compliant (Public Law 115-232 §889). For projects that require it, see the NDAA-compliant range.

Frequently Asked Questions about Dome Camera Kits

What is a dome camera best at?

A dome camera sits in a low, rounded housing that's hard to grab, knock out of alignment or tell the aim of through the tinted cover. That makes it the pick for discreet and tamper-resistant positions — ceilings, eaves, entries, retail and indoor spaces. Many models carry an IK10 vandal-resistance rating for exposed or public positions.

Dome, turret or bullet — which kit suits my property?

Dome for discreet, tamper-resistant and indoor positions. Turret for general outdoor perimeter on most homes and small business — the safe default; see the turret camera kits. Bullet for long, narrow runs like driveways and fence lines; see the bullet camera kits. Most installs mix them — tell us the positions and we'll match the form factor to each.

What's included in a dome camera kit?

Matched dome cameras, a PoE NVR with built-in ports for the cameras, mounting hardware for each camera, and a quick-start guide. HDD-included kits ship with a surveillance-grade drive pre-installed; BYO-HDD kits ship without so you can size the drive to your retention. Cat6 cable to each camera, a monitor for local viewing, and your internet router are not included.

Do these kits record without a subscription?

Yes. The cameras record to the hard drive in the NVR, on your premises — no cloud fee, no monthly subscription, and you own the footage. Free remote viewing via the Hik-Connect app on Hikvision/HiLook kits; you only need an internet connection at the NVR.

Can I install a dome camera kit myself?

Each camera runs on a single Cat6 cable from the NVR that carries power and data (PoE) — no separate power at the camera. The cable run is the real work, and domes usually mount to a ceiling or soffit, so allow for routing the cable into the cavity. Single-storey indoor or eave installs are a sensible DIY job; two-storey and commercial sites are usually better as a professional install. We can refer a licensed installer.
