AcuSense Kits

An AcuSense kit is a pre-built camera system built around Hikvision AcuSense cameras — on-camera AI that classifies what triggered a motion event as a person, a vehicle, or "other", and only alerts you for the first two. In practice that cuts the false alerts that wind, rain, insects, shadows and animals would otherwise generate, so the notifications you get are ones worth looking at. The kit pairs AcuSense cameras with a PoE NVR, a pre-installed surveillance-grade hard drive, and the cabling to connect them.

AcuSense earns its keep at outdoor positions — driveways, yards, perimeters — where alert fatigue is otherwise inevitable. Security Cameras Australia stocks the AcuSense kit range in 4MP, 6MP and 8MP resolutions and across turret, bullet and dome form factors. Every kit is genuine Australian stock with full manufacturer warranty, and footage records locally to the NVR — you own it, with no monthly subscription.

Why an AcuSense kit

  • Alerts you'll actually use. On-camera AI sends notifications only for people and vehicles, cutting the false alerts that make a standard system's notifications worthless outdoors.
  • No cloud, no subscription. The AI runs on the camera and footage records to the NVR on your premises — you own it, with no monthly fee.
  • Compatibility is guaranteed. NVR ports match the camera count and the drive is sized for the cameras' resolution at 30-day retention.

Where AcuSense matters most

AcuSense pays off at outdoor positions with regular non-threat motion — driveways (headlights, passing cars), yards (pets, wildlife), tree-lined perimeters (wind, shadows). It matters less at indoor or low-traffic positions, where a standard kit does the job. The honest answer: buy AcuSense for the positions that need it, not reflexively for every camera.

What's in an AcuSense kit

  • AcuSense cameras in turret, bullet or dome form factor at the kit's resolution.
  • PoE NVR with built-in ports for the cameras.
  • Surveillance-grade hard drive pre-installed on HDD-included kits, or supply your own on BYO kits.
  • Mounting hardware per camera and a quick-start guide.
  • Not included: Cat6 cable to each camera, a monitor, your internet router.

Choosing resolution and form factor

Match resolution to distance: 4MP for general perimeter, 6MP as the standard, 8MP / 4K for detail at range. Match form factor to position: turret for general perimeter, bullet for long runs, dome for discreet or vandal-prone spots. See turret, bullet and dome kits.

Frequently Asked Questions about AcuSense Kits

What does AcuSense actually do?

AcuSense is on-camera AI that classifies a motion event as a person, a vehicle, or neither — and only sends you an alert for people and vehicles. It runs on the camera itself, not in the cloud, so there's no subscription and no delay. The practical result is far fewer false alerts from wind, rain, insects, shadows and animals, so the notifications you do get are worth checking.

Is AcuSense worth it over a standard kit?

At outdoor positions, almost always. A standard camera triggers on any motion, so an exposed driveway or yard can generate constant false alerts until you switch notifications off — at which point the system stops being useful. AcuSense filters those out for a modest premium. For indoor or low-traffic positions where false alerts aren't the pain point, a standard kit is fine — see all camera systems.

Can I combine AcuSense with ColorVu?

Yes — many Hikvision cameras carry both. AcuSense handles which events alert you; ColorVu keeps the image in full colour at night for identification detail. The combination is the common pick for front-of-house positions. See the ColorVu kits.

Do these kits record without a subscription?

Yes. AcuSense runs on the camera, and footage records to the hard drive in the NVR on your premises — no cloud fee, no monthly subscription, and you own the footage. Free remote viewing via the Hik-Connect app; you only need an internet connection at the NVR.

Can I install an AcuSense kit myself?

Each camera runs on a single Cat6 cable from the NVR that carries power and data (PoE) — no separate power at the camera. The cable run is the real work. Single-storey homes with accessible roof-space paths are a sensible DIY job; two-storey and commercial sites are usually better as a professional install. We can refer a licensed installer.
